Born on the outskirts of Sheffield (England), Steve grew up very much influenced by the sights and sounds of his beloved Northern England; from the inspiring mystical beauty of the Yorkshire Dales to the hypnotic pulsing rhythms of the steel city - a wide spectrum of influences have found their way into Steve’s music.
Steve started working as a professional musician in May 1979. He spent a decade touring the world, performing as a session and backing musician with The Del Shannon Band and Johnny & The Hurricanes and working with Shakin' Stevens and Alvin Stardust before eventually settling down in Hamburg. Together with four English musicians he formed the goodtime rock'n'roll band, The Sneekers, and by the end of the Eighties had established himself in Hamburg with his own 24 track recording studio: the birth of Touchsongs Music Production & Marketing GmbH.
Steve started writing his own songs and producing solo artists and bands during the mid-Eighties and now completed a wide variety of productions in his own studio - from jazz and punk rock productions with Colosseum saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith and The Bollock Brothers to rock productions with established German rock bands like Dirty Money and Running Wild.
From the end of the Eighties through to the mid-Nineties Steve worked for various independant record companies (Public Propaganda, Repertoire Records, Edel Co) and private TV stations in Germany (Sat 1, RTL) on instrumental and soundtrack productions before devoting his attentions to his own projects as of the mid-Nineties. He has worked prolifically as a producer throughout the years; Peter Beil, Goombay Dance Band, Betsy Miller, Eddy Monrow, Ultraglide and Detlef Timm are just some of the German-based recording artists who have benefited from Steve's producing talents.
Steve‘s productions reflect his upbringing in Northern England – inspiring and exciting while boasting a naive, rugged beauty – and deal with the themes close to his own heart: A Perfect Day (beautiful classical compositions), Wellness For Kids (instrumentals for the younger generation), Kokopelli (inspiring Native American myths and legends set to music) and Earth Revisited - The Return Of The Rainbow Warriors (a dramatic rock concept album about climate change, the destruction of "lebensraum" - and never-ending hope).
