Migaloo and his fellow humpback whales gather in the cold Antarctic waters before setting out on their fantastic journey (THE GATHERING). Migaloo senses the mounting excitement and is anxious to reach the open seas. Accompanied by his girlfriend Little Wings, the journey begins (FANTASTIC JOURNEY).

The calm before the storm. The whales glide through peaceful waters (GYMNOPEDIE NO. 1) before Migaloo and Little Wings are forced to brave the winter storms off Australia's coast (STORMRIDERS). Basking alone on a moonlit night, Migaloo gathers strength for the second part of his journey (TIMEOUT).

Migaloo and Little Wings set out in the early light of a new day, greeted by peaceful whale watchers from a distance (WHAT NOW, MIGALOO?). Their anxiety to reach a safe haven grows with the threatening sound of a whaler echoing through the depths. Suddenly Migaloo and Little Wings find themselves swimming for their lives, driven apart as they dive to escape the hunters’ deadly harpoons (THE HUMAN RACE).

Migaloo is left to carry on his journey alone, reflecting on the madness of the world around him and mourning the loss of his best friend (MAD WORLD) - until he hears Little Wings’ distant call echoing through the depths. The two whales rejoice as they reunite to complete their journey together (GENTLE GIANTS), arriving safe and sound in the warmer waters (JOURNEY ON, MIGALOO).

Migaloo and Little Wings enjoy the warmth of the Australian coastal waters. Together with the other humpback whales they wait for the first signs of spring (WINTER'S END) and the beginnng of yet another fantastic journey....
